On 24 November 2017, during the Séance publique annuelle of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres in Paris, Prof. Carmelo Giuseppe Conticello was awarded the Médaille Brunet for his work on the supervision and publication of La théologie byzantine, vol. I/1 (CCTB, I/1).
